About RateMyPlate
A free, simple place to remember the best dish at every restaurant you visit. Rate dishes from 1 to 10, mark your favorites, and see what other people recommend. No ads, no tracking, no account required.
What we store
- Your ratings: dish, score, favorite flag, and any note or photo link you add. Notes and photo links are shown only to you (site admins can see them to remove abuse).
- An anonymous identity: a random token in a cookie (
rmp_dev) links this browser to your list. We store only a hash of it. - Your email, only if you add it: used to send sign-in links so your list follows you to other devices. Never shared, never used for anything else.
- Your IP address, briefly: kept for about a day to limit abuse and failed logins, then deleted. It is not tied to your ratings.
- Places and dishes that anyone adds are public, along with their averaged scores.
We use two cookies and nothing else: rmp_dev (your list) and rmp_csrf (form security). No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts. When you tap "Find places near me", your browser's location is used once to look up nearby restaurants and is not stored. Only the rounded map area is remembered.
Your data is yours
Delete your ratings and email any time from Account. It is removed immediately.
Photos
We never host images. If you link a photo, it must be a public https address and is shown only to you.
